About Us
The Medcard LLC is a small business with a physical office in Owensboro, KY. The med card is overseen by a board of professionals.
All medical cannabis practitioners are advanced practice registered nurses (“APRNs”) licensed through the Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure or the Kentucky Board of Nursing.
Our support team understands the Kentucky rules and regulations regarding medical marijuana cards, but are not doctors or nurses. They can advise you on the steps to take to apply for and use your medical marijuana card, but cannot dispense medical advice.
Myiesha Taylor MD
Dr. Myiesha Taylor is a board-certified emergency medicine physician and Medical Advisor for Cannformatics. She graduated from Xavier University of Louisiana summa cum laude with a B.S. in chemistry and attended USC Keck School of Medicine for her medical degree (MD).
Dr. Taylor chose emergency medicine after the untimely death of her father who was shot and killed during the civil unrest sparked by the Rodney King trial verdict in 1992. She was an intern and resident at Los Angeles County King Drew Medical Center. There, she served as Chief Resident her senior year receiving both community-based and academic awards.
She founded Artemis Medical Society to mentor and support women physicians of color globally, for which she was honored by Disney Junior with the character Myiesha McStuffins in the children’s TV show Doc McStuffins. Dr. Taylor has been featured on Lester Holt’s Inspiring America, was a 2014 Dallas Women’s Foundation Young Leader Award honoree, was in three Disney Junior Get Inspired Black History Month interstitials and serves as a Women’s Media Center She Source expert.
Dr. Taylor is a recipient of the Dallas Women’s Foundation Maura Women Helping Women Young Leader Award, Dallas Business Journal’s 40 Under 40, D Magazine Moms Who Inspire, HBCU Digest’s Most Powerful People, and a Fort Worth Business Press Great Women of Texas Honoree.
Amanda Utesch | Director of Operations
Amanda Schroeder was born and raised in Texas and moved to Kentucky in high school and attended Nixa High School. After obtaining her GED at age 27 after the untimely death of her mother who struggled with prescription medication addiction and mental health issues.
She began studying at Kentucky State University in 2016 and graduated in May of 2021 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, a double minor in Criminology and Anthropology, and was certified in Criminal Investigation. She is passionate about the use of medical marijuana as a form of treatment for many different disorders in both the medical/psychological fields and a crusader for cannabis education.
Prior to graduation, she had previously planned on seeking a Master’s in Social Work but after being employed with a local medical marijuana cultivation center she began exploring higher degrees in the industry. A frequent contender on the Kentucky State University Dean’s List, she is looking forward to attending the University of Colorado’s Medical program specializing in Cannabis Science and Pharmacology.
In the spare time that she does have she is most often spending time with her children and a small circle of friends or keeping up with current cannabis research to better assist patients on their journey of finding a safer and more organic alternative to modern westernized treatments.
